The Wells Fargo logo is a great example of keeping a logo design simple and to the point. This logo uses just two colors and a Century, or some variation of, font face to represent their business. The Wells Fargo logo follows all of the basic design principles. There was proper use of color for good contrast, it's readable, and consistent.

The background is just a square which uses nothing but an almost pure red color that conveys the company's passion for their business. The font itself uses a pure yellow which reflects happiness and gives off a warm feeling, together the combination of red and yellow create an exciting mix of colors.

Functionality

The logo for Wells Fargo is quite functional because of the simple design. It could easily be converted to another two color scheme such as black and white. There's no use of gradients or reflections, which may reduce its ability to be printed, and it has great scalability since there's no special text effects that may lose clarity when enlarged or made smaller.

Uniqueness

A lot of companies use a similar design style to what Wells Fargo uses. Having just readable text on a single color background is a very successful way of making a business logo.
